Fred and Marley Shropshire started their romantic relationship in December 2019.
They first got to know about their existence through Instagram. Marley is selective about the people she follows on the platform and it is known that she mainly follows people from the theatre world and speakers who inspire her.
At that time she had followed some speakers from Charlotte and because of that Instagram's algorithm suggested the account @therealfredshropshire as someone she might be interested in.
Looks like Instagram played the role of a cupid in their relationship.
Beginning Of A Love Story Via Follow Button
She got intrigued and checked his profile to know more about the man. She was impressed by him when she saw his feed and immediately she clicked the follow button. A thousand miles away Fred received a notification that someone just followed him.
When he checked the profile he was mesmerized by Marley. The pair felt some sort of connection with one another despite their lack of knowledge about each other.
A week after they followed each other, Fred posted an Instagram story showing his kids who were crying because they didn't like the Elderberry syrup. In the story, he asked his followers to suggest a brand that would like.
The Program Director saw the story and sent a private message to Shropshire and recommended Flintstones gummies. The Newscaster replied with a "thank you" and "nice to meet you."
Since that day they began to message each other constantly and after a week they started talking on the phone. After one week of talking on the phone, they face time each other for the first time.
After several weeks of talking on social media, they decided to meet in person so Marley flew to Charlotte on the weekend.
The Decision of Celibacy Until Their Marriage
When the pair had their "define-the-relationship talk" they agreed that it was the right decision to remain celibate until their marriage as divorced parents with young children.
They also wanted to be connected with one another more emotionally rather than having a physical relationship. In an interview, the couple mentioned that it was harder for them at the beginning because of the infatuation but once they fell into the habit it became easier for them.
